Adriana (Giggles) Hyams

Adriana earned her bachelor’s degree at Swarthmore College.  At Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, she was a coordinator and research assistant administering many clinical and neuropsychological assessments for a variety of studies of inpatient and outpatient older adults with bipolar disorder, major depression, and/or anxiety.  While there, she also completed a graduate certificate in gerontology at the University of Pittsburgh.  Her research interests include mood disorders, social support, and hearing loss among older adults. Her thesis used the PEARL data to analyze whether race moderates the relationship between social support and psychological distress. She is currently working on her dissertation, which studies the association between hearing loss (corrected and uncorrected) and quality of life among older adults.
